Chem Chep - a speciality of Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Portal) - Quang Binh is famous for not only much beautiful sea landscapes but also abundant seafood resources which is processed into many attractive specialty. Apart from usual seafoods such as fish, shrimp, crab, squid,… there is a seafood with a strange name called Chem Chep (mussels). This is a precious seafood of Quang Binh, processed into many different dishes such as Chem Chep grilled, steamed and gruel. The dishes seemed very rustic and simple but hypnotic many travelers when coming to Quang Binh.

Chem Chep is a marine mussel, live in the dunes, hang it lies deep in fine sand. Chem chep is larger, its cave is deeper. If someone has ever witnessed the working activities of the fisherman to make of the Chem Chep dish that they maybe understand those hardships and that also a gilf giving from them. To complete the Chem Chep dish they have to through a long process such as raking, carefully sifted to choosing the best Chem Chep and then make the preparation steps.

How fascinating when the mantle of sunset was let down over the giant sea this is time we can enjoy the grilling Chem Chep with our friends. Everyone gathered together around the charcoal stove and then put the fresh Chem Chep on the grilling blisters and wait to Chem Chem open his mouths, mean that it has ripened. You can just blow, just peel and squeeze a little lemon juice then use a little salt with pepper. Then use your hands to tear out Chem Chep and eat it with the ginger leaves. The secret to process the Chem Chep is that Chem Chep is cooked with gruel. Rice is washed with water and is roasted on the cooker and then cooked to get the gruel.
